Admission Criteria

Mother and child 1

Kathleen York House supports women who are seeking abstinence based treatment after a long history of harmful substance dependence.  We aim to ensure women have a safe transition between withdrawal to residential rehab.

We admit women over 21, without children or with children under 11. We also support women at any stage of their pregnancy.

Many of our clients have also been diagnosed with mental health disorders.

For our program to be successful, each potential client is thoroughly assessed to ensure suitability to our treatment program. Women wishing to enter our program will need to be at least seven days abstinent and at no risk of withdrawal symptoms upon admission.

Eligibility criteria for admission to Kathleen York House:

  • completion of detoxification at a recognised detoxification unit; or
  • being under the intensive supervision of a General Practitioner and having the ability to provide documentation regarding detox status, including urine screens; or
    • being released from prison or from another rehabilitation unit and able to provide clean urine screens and supporting documentation from health professionals.

Our clients must be able to pay two weeks’ nominal rent and be prepared to sign an agreement to follow our program structure, guidelines and house rules.

We are unable to admit women on methadone or buprenorphine.

Current intake times are:

Tuesdays and Fridays  between 11-1pm
